LCRC Goes WAY Too Far

By Loudoun Insider

This cartoon montage just arrived as part of an LCRC email blast.  I am no fan of Barack Obama, but putting up a photo of him as a zombie with a bullet hole in his head????????????  Like him or not he is the legitimately elected the President of the United States and Commander in Chief of our armed services in a time of war.  THIS IS DISGUSTING AND SHAMEFUL.  Someone should send this to the US Secret Service.

UPDATE:  RPV condemns the photo, story at WaPo Virginia Politics blog.

“The disgusting image used today on a mass e-mail has no place in our politics. Ever,’’ said Pat Mullins, chairman of the state party. “The Republican Party of Virginia condemns the image and its use in the strongest possible terms.”

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

By Loudoun Insider

I just had to scan and clip out this ridiculous photo of the Loudoun County anti-homosexual dream team, Dick Black and Eugene Delgaudio, from a recent Dick Black mail piece.  You just gotta love the jaunty angle Dick’s hat is set at, but I am quite worried about the deathly pallor of his skin.  Eugene of course sports his usual demented grin and an orange hat, along with a spiffy orange hanky in the suit pocket that is new to me.  Seriously, folks, this is what represents Loudoun County to the outside world.  Come up with your best caption for this one in comments.  Anyone going trick or treating in these costumes tonight???

No Wonder Virginia Dems Are In Complete Meltdown

By Loudoun Insider

A viable opposition party is essential to democracy in my opinion.  The dangers of stranglehold single party control are well documented, from both sides of the aisle, and  Virginia government has enough ethics issues as it is.  But this year the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) is putting on a performance so bad that it boggles the mind.  Much of that blame must go to the “leader” of DPVA, failed gubernatorial candidate Brian Moran.

There was a ton of resistance to Moran being installed as DPVA Chairman from many in Democratic circles, including their primary bloggers, Ben Tribbett of Not Larry Sabato and Lowell Feld of Blue Virginia.  They were obviously right because DPVA has been an utter disaster since he took over.  Lowell ran a biting commentary last week about Moran’s latest actions leading up to this election, and this week we get a local Loudoun example of how clueless he is.  On November 5, three days before election day, Moran will be hosting an evening event for Loudoun Supervisor candidate Larry “Spirit Pot” Roeder, who no one gives a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Matt Letourneau.

Republicans will have a huge 2011 in Virginia elections.  Plenty of races were winnable for these guys but they have made just about every mistake possible and seem to be utterly without direction or common sense.  republicans can either take the gift they’ve been given and work to build a semi-permanent majority, or more than likely they will go crazy on fringe issues and insider deals and we’ll see another wholesale flip in a few years.  Of course the Dems will need to ditch Brian Moran to help make any such flip possible.

So, do you think the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the destruction of private property on private property???

Hounds Fall Behind And Add Two More Supervisors To Their Lineup

By Loudoun Insider

As expected for months now, the Loudoun Hounds announced that they will indeed not open for the 2012 baseball season despite plenty of assertions to the contrary by them recently.  Now they say it will happen in 2013.  We’ll see.  So far their track record isn’t very good.  For some reason the LTM hasn’t seen fit to publicize this, even though they went ballistic over WAGE Radio not meeting their announced on-air date, with two news articles in a month and an editorial.

After buying influence with donations by a baseball team to local Supervisor candidates Geary Higgins (their favorite at $1500) and $1000 each to Janet Clarke, Matt Letourneau, Ralph Buona, Shawn Williams, and Eugene Delgaudio, they have recently added Suzanne Volpe and Ken Reid to their dog pound with late September donations of $1,000 each.  For some reason they go Dem in their state level donations, with $1000 to Mark Herring and $500 to Shawn Mitchell.  Here’s the link to their VPAP donation list to see for yourself.  Do you think they may want to go before the next BOS for some kind of concessions or help with their stadium?  Hot diggity dog, I wish someone would figure this one out!

Bwana Deserves More Attention, and Looks Like I Need To Resign Myself To Senator Dick Black

By Loudoun Insider

Bwana at Renaissance Ruminations is the best blogger no one has heard of.  He blogs in short spurts of activity followed by long periods of inactivity and has a small single author blog that tends to fall off most peoples’ radar screens when he’s away for a while.  I suggested to NLS that he would be a perfect addition to Not Larry Sabato to add some variety and content to that flagship Virginia political blog that has been flagging lately.

Check out his site when you can and be sure to read his latest excellent piece on various General Assembly races.  He’s right on about the horrendous state of the Dems in NOVA and their last minute focus on rally the base issues like abortion and guns.  I am especially dismayed at the Mitchell campaign’s ridiculous final week focus on gun issues in a district composed of Loudoun and Prince William counties.  I need to get used to saying Senator Dick Black as much as that pains me.  What could assure the return of Plastic Fetus Guy to the General Assembly?  Only a disaster as complete as DPVA.

Don’t Take Lessons From Teacher Kelly Burk!

By Loudoun Insider

Unbelievable.  Incumbent Supervisor and LCPS teacher Kelly Burk just sent out a blast email from her loudoun.gov email account with a re-election pitch at the end.  How in the world could she think she could get away with this???  I must say it again – unbelievable.  The full text of the email is below the fold.

Simpson Lawsuit Update

By Loudoun Insider

Simons Chase, the founder of Performance Beverage Group, manufacturer of Nine Iron sports drink, filed a pro se lawsuit against Loudoun Sheriff Steve Simpson recently. A hearing to dismiss the lawsuit occurred this past week, and as Simpson stated in print, he was expecting it to be dismissed.  But it wasn’t.  Chase, residing in California, did not receive timely notice of the hearing and was granted a 21 day extension.  So much for the big press release they probably had planned – “frivolous lawsuit against our esteemed Sheriff dismissed!” would have been the gist of it.

That lawsuit is not his biggest worry.  Another large investor in the company is represented by a big name law firm and is very close to filing a detailed suit against Simpson.  I’ve seen some of the legal correspondence from this investor’s lawyers and they are going to put the screws to Simpson and his compatriots on the PBG board for various transgressions.  I am told this lawsuit should be filed early this week.  There is also one more investor who is considering putting together a suit of his own, so that would make three lawsuits against the sitting Sheriff of Loudoun County for shady business dealings.

Geary Higgins Scares The Crap Out Of Everyone!!!

By Loudoun Insider

Well, we all know now that battling stink bugs is one of the primary planks of Geary Higgins’ campaign platform (who could forget the worst mailer ever?).  And as this recent Washington Post story states, stink bug populations have already taken a nose dive just with the THREAT of Geary Higgins being elected.  Although I have not seen any data to back it up, tick populations also seem to be down this year, surely in response to Higgins’ stated threats against them and Lyme Disease as well.  Nothing scares stink bugs and ticks more than Geary Higgins!

Even the LCRC knows that Geary Higgins is scary.  Scarier than politics they say.  This is directly from this announcement posted on the LCRC website:

What’s Scarier than Politics?

Geary Higgins for Catoctin Supervisor

Did no one see how ridiculous that looked when they posted it???  When it comes to the Geary Higgins campaign, it seems to be Scary Halloween all season long.
