HUGE Surprise!

By Loudoun Insider

Well, not exactly!  The new Coochiriffic RPV State Central Committee wants to reconsider the vote to have a primary next year to determine statewide nominees.

  • Baron Rosedown says:

That proves my theory that Cooch never wanted a primary.

If I truly understand the “hierarchy” of the 10th-CD & RPVA, this would mean that John Whitbeck is on the Executive Committee for both organizations?

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Whitbeck, with no previous party experience and plenty of baggage, is now the Chairman of the 10th CD and basically Mark Sell’s party boss, and as such he sits on the Ex Com of RPV.

  • Kevin says:

Good news. I’m glad we are going to have a convention.

  • James Young says:

I’m a long-time supporter of conventions over primaries (probably sufficient that most here know that), but once the decision has been made, it should not be overturned.

That having been said, I think it was a mistake for the SCC to make that decision more than a year before the date such an event should occur, particularly when you know there will be an intervening election for most of the SCC. This will probably give advocates for reconsidering the decision a “hook” for challenging it, and a not insignificant one.
