Don’t Eat In Purcellville

By Loudoun Insider

Unless you want to pay the highest meals tax in the county and to help pay off the debts incurred by Litigious Lazaro and his vassals on the Purcellville Town Council.  All the never ending talk about how well managed they say they are, and here we have another group of supposed Republicans raising taxes in Loudoun County.  The Twilight Zone, Loudoun Edition continues unabated.

  • Bob L. says:

Also in “the town that’s such a great place to live and raise a family” (and dine in), water/sewer rate increases for the 4th consecutive year. Rates nearly doubled in 2009, a 25% raise in 2010, 11% (water) 15% (sewer) increases in 2011, and in 2012 7% for water and 20% sewer are on tap.

  • BlackOut says:

Why are they calling this a meals tax? Sounds like it should be called a litigation tax? How could they just now be dealing with legal bills from 2000? Is this part of the mess Clarke left behind? I really don’t know.

  • TCJohnson says:

Dang it, Haute Dogs is one of my favorite places to eat.

  • Eric the 1/2 Troll says:

Clarke fully supported the litigation against the County and on top of this resultant tax also stuck the County residents with the bill for a multimillion dollar “settlement” (aka extortion fee).

  • Conservative says:

Anyone who believes that Bobby Lazaro and Tommy Priscilla are Republicans needs to have their head examined. For any conservatives moving to Loudoun … do yourselves a favor and don’t move into any of the towns.

  • Eric the 1/2 Troll says:

Conservative, the Purcellville TC isn’t satisfied with just dictating what goes on within the Town limits. They and cohort Janet Clarke are all about forced expansion of the Town into the County – just ask Sam Brown.

  • Ref says:

Eric has it exactly right. Their open disdain for the PUGAMP shows that if they had their druthers they’d expand their domain right up to the Hamilton boundary. They’re Republicans in the Dale Polen-Myers mold… nothing conservative in the least about the way they run Purcellville.

    Nailed it.

  • Ross Patterson says:

@Conservative: “For any conservatives moving to Loudoun … do yourselves a favor and don’t move into any of the towns.”

Loudoun’s Democrats thank you for that suggestion!

To the rest of you, I offer the observation that Purcellville has 4,969 registered voters, and that only 571 of them voted for Bob Lazaro. That’s not a particularly hard number to beat if you really want to seize the reins of power.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Good point, Ross, but voter apathy dominates Loudoun more than either party.

  • Eric the 1/2 Troll says:

    RP,

You have a good point. Nothing irks me more than the dearth of decent candidates for public office in the towns in western Loudoun. Put up anyone with a decent reputation against Lazaro et al and their reign would be over.
