That was the statement by commenter A.E. Gnat in a comment thread below to this article at the LTM:

Yes, you can see the main headline in that link.  The former FBI agent who was to lead the county “investigation” of Eugene Delgaudio was on the list of potential donors that Delgaudio was having his county paid staffers raise funds from.

So that guy and a lawyer who was until recently employed as Associate General Counsel for the biggest of big donors to local Republican candidates and the LCRC were supposed to investigate Republican fixture Eugene Delgaudio.

Unbelievable.  This is worse than the Keystone F-ing Cops.  I am utterly disgusted and ashamed to live in a county run by these fools.

Oh snap! King must be going nuts!

  • BlackOut says:

No wonder Delgaudio was so excited about being investigated.

  • Lady M says:

Must be how they found his name and phone number. Just took another look at Igor’s list.

Honestly, it’s hard to believe that all this has really happened. So incredibly disappointing.

Why does Jack Roberts still have a job??? Oh yeah, he’s covering for his bosses all the time. This is an epic failure.

  • BTownite says:

Good bye Scott York. You have a few years left but your time in Loudoun County is over. This is the price some morally bankrupt people (like York) pay when they go all in partisan.

  • BlackOut says:

Pondering this further, I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised here. After all York confiscated the Mateer papers for his “own research” back in March. Either he caught the Ed Wright reference as a potential ally or he didn’t do very good research.

I wonder if Delgaudio was smirking when he saw Ed Wright on the bidders list?

  • David says:

Smirking? I don’t think so. This may be exactly why he sent his attorney to the board. He’s also become uncharacteristically reticent with the media of late. Since when does Eugene turn down an opportunity to be quoted? All press is good press, right?

  • BlackOut says:

Come think of it David you are right. He probably winced.

I am still laughing at the conversation Delgaudio and King must have had. “OK, we go to the board and take the high ground, obvisouly the bid winning investigative team is tainted, so we say we want a different one, we get brownie points for being above board, and then we can get someone other than Wright, let’s do it!”

Then they make the pitch but all of the sudden it doesn’t go as planned and the investigation ends back as a criminal investigation with subpoena powers. Damn it!

King is in for an adventure in the world of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.

Or better yet, Mr. Hyde’s Nasty Fall.

Latest news on Patch is that Williams is calling for ED to be stripped of committee assignments pending the outcome.
