Ken Reid Is A Flaming Asshole

By Loudoun Insider

I haven’t had much to say lately – sick to death of the sorry state of Loudoun and its horrendous politics. Made all the worse by flaming assholes like Ken Reid.

And you’re ENTITLED to say “neither is correct”, just as BOTH are ENTITLED to either join you in proclaiming “FSM” or continuing to say “The Lord” and “Obama” in their turn, and others are ENTITLED to agree or disagree with one, some or all of you, and so on…

(I made sauce last night with some sweet sausage, but did not think of a gnat while so doing–when I reheat tonight for leftovers, I bet I will– :D )

“For some folks this is the only Christmas tree they’ll have all season,” resident Robert Troudeau said. “There are people overseas fighting for our freedoms and dying and we’re here fighting over things like this. It’s a shame.”

Sad. Very sad indeed. OK Liberals. Why do you hate Christmas? Why do you hate tradition? Why are you so hell bent on fundementally transforming this country into something that it was never intended to be?

  • Eric the 1/2 Troll says:

“The company has owned The Willows for four years…”

“OK Liberals. Why do you hate Christmas?”

Hey, don’t point the finger at me. This is private enterprise issue and the free market at work. Would you like the government to step in and MANDATE that the company put up a Christmas tree?

If this were a COUNTY or STATE own facility, it would be a relevant issue to the discussion at hand. But it is not and has nothing to do with governmetnal policy or politics. Maybe the owner simply wants to attract a non-Christian or Jewish clientele.

  • NateDogg614 says:

    From the article:

“Frances Schaeffer, who is Jewish, said she doesn’t understand the property management company’s stance.”

Not pointing the finger at you specifically. However, if it is, in fact, a free market issue, they might want to rethink their stance:

    Also from the article:

“Max Greenis who has lived at the complex for a year with his wife, Bonnie, said he’s considering withholding his rent in protest of what he calls an abomination of the holiday tradition.”

So why change the policy all of a sudden? Was someone’s feelings hurt? Did someone threaten to sue? What is it about a Christmas tree that gets people PO’ed?

  • I was just pointing out that one was religious expression and the other political, both protected by the Constitution… for now. What disturbs me is that there are so many who try to pervert the meaning of the Constitution to suggest that the so-called “separation of Church and State” doctrine dictates suppression of the Church, that religious expression in the public square somehow does not share equal footing with political expression.

It is not that the Atheist believers seek equal footing with other religions, they seek to shut down public expression of of other religions in any form, and the best way to do that is by fomenting ugly confrontation and litigation rather than shared celebration, such that the only resolution is to shut down everything in opposition to their views, which is their real objective despite their protestations to the contrary.

It is hard to find the political equivalent… those that wish to quench all expression in public venues, including their own, such that at least the opposition has been muted.

The senior complex is privately owned, but perhaps some of the rent is subsidized via government programs?

Some in the comments opined that perhaps a relative of a resident complained?

I was interested in that the reason given for the ban was because the tree is a religious symbol. Somebody tell the atheists, quick!

“Some in the comments opined that perhaps a relative of a resident complained?”

It’s fascinating to me how, in a country where supposedly the majority rules, one individual — or a small group of people — can raise a complaint, threaten to sue, and ruin things for everyone else.

  • Nate, though I believe we are mostly on the same side about things, I believe it is important for us to keep in mind that while indeed in many aspects of our lives the “majority rules”, it is the law that rules over the majority, otherwise we are doomed. The problem is whenever a minority or majority pervert, abuse or ignore the law in order to rule over the opposition.

  • NateDogg614 says:

    T. Doom, I certainly agree with you. Nevertheless, I do find it fascinating, particularly when it comes to Christmas displays and the athiests.
