Transportation Deal Open Thread

By Loudoun Insider

Go at it about this new transportation/tax hike deal.  Personally I think it sucks – NOVA gets to pay more and there is still no guarantee Richmond will do right by NOVA.  Surely we’ll see more money wasted on down state boondoggles and close-in boondoggles like Metro to Dulles, while true NOVA road needs languish.

Welcome to the party, albeit two weeks too late. Sorry that we have to add most of Loudoun’s loser GOP delegation to the list of the usual suspect Republicans, ie: Stosch, Norment, Wagner, Watkins, Howell, Albo, etal. Seems you guys have a real problem electing GOP representation that actually stands up for Conservative principles, both at the local and state level.

Derecho, I gave up a while ago on expecting Loudoun Republicans to truly be “conservative”, and I have given up on regular blogging. After all, the 9-0 Republican BOS voted to bring Metro to Loudoun. And don’t go bragging too much on PWC, you guys have your own messes courtesy of the supposedly conservative and ethical Republicans running that county as well, as you and The Sheriff have done such a good job exposing.

Can’t and won’t argue that point, our GOP GA delegation (including in part Ramadan and Black) IMHO did much better than yours in Richmond, and actually asked for and acted on constituent input. For that singular vote alone, May, Greason, LeMunyon and Minchew should be shown the door.

From a transportation standpoint, it will help a lot. I would prefer that the funding had remained as a straight gas tax , but it will do.

From a political standpoint, anything that stoked the Republican civil war is totally awesome and I support it 100%

First the “tax increase” on the Federal level on New Years, now this massive Republican tax increase in Virginia. Teabaggers vs Country Club Republicans, I love it.

Not a fan, disappointed in the republicans I volunteered for a while ago. (McDonnell and Greason)

So much for lower taxes and smaller government. The Republicans essentially control both houses of the General Assembly, with Boiling being the tie breaker.

Do we need transportation funding? Yes.
Should we have waited since 1986 to address it? Nope

I love the regressive tax and the newly created taxes, NOT. Now Richmond gets even more tax dollars from Loudoun. SMH.
