I really did want to leave the Frederick Fiasco alone, but of course Mr. “It’s All About Me” just had to get his name in the papers again today, hinting that he will be running again for RPV Chairman.  He complains about “top down” and “power trips” in a WaPo article when those were the exact hallmarks of his own miserable tenure as RPV Chairman.

Like a zombie he just can’t be finished off, and like a vampire he sucks the lifeblood out of any organization he’s associated with (read this all too familiar sounding tale of his college days from RedState).  I now hope he does run again so the final nail can be put in his political coffin.  He won’t be finished until he’s truly finished.

Frederick’s continued insistence that this is all about him is peeling off many of his last supporters.  Norm Leahy at Tertium Quids and Write Side of My Brain make insightful comparisons to Evita Peron, with Write Side’s post called “Don’t Cry For Me, Appalachia”.  Hilarious!

Frederick’s email missive is below the fold.  See how many instances of projection you can find.

Dear Fellow Virginia Republican:

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, fifty-seven members of the State Central Committee voted on Saturday to remove me as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. Their decision effectively overturned the result of the thousands of Republican grassroots activists and volunteers who elected me at the 2008 Virginia Republican Convention.

The difference in the outcome hinged on a favorable proxy vote for me, who was disqualified by the Committee. Had this gentleman – an active Republican who drove all the way from Bath County to attend this meeting – been allowed to cast his vote, I would be Chairman today.

As I told the press corps after the vote, I’m certainly disappointed, yet I remain optimistic.

I ran for Chairman with the hope of changing our Party so we could once again be the majority party in Virginia, achieving real progress for our Commonwealth and our families while remaining true to our principles and values.

Unfortunately, the headwinds against changing course were just too great. Too many are still invested in doing things the old way, giving direction from the top-down instead of building and growing from the bottom-up. When I sought the chairmanship, I promised to put our Party firmly back in your hands – the grassroots of our Party. Of course, that didn’t sit well with long-time Party insiders. Instead of concerning themselves with electing Republicans, they – from the moment my victory was declared last May – focused their efforts on replacing me with someone who would “play ball” with them.

I am disappointed for our Party and our grassroots, since the very same people who have presided over our Party’s decline in Virginia are now back in charge.

Yet, I will not be deterred. I have always said that I am not in this business for me. Philosophically, I fight these fights to further the principles you and I share. Practically, I engage to do all I can to ensure that my daughters have a chance to grow up in the wonderful Virginia in which I had the privilege of growing up.

Amy and I have some decisions to make. Over the next several days, we will be talking amongst ourselves and with close friends, and praying about our next steps. We will fill you in as soon as we make those decisions.

Until then, I want to give my most sincere and heartfelt thanks to those of you who stood by me through these challenging and trying times. It is times like these when you truly learn who your friends are, and I’m humbled by the outpouring of support we have received from every corner of Virginia. You are true friends, and I will never forget all that you sacrificed on behalf of our Party and our principles.

Notwithstanding whatever course we take from here, know that our friendships will endure, and please don’t ever hesitate to let me know how I can repay even just a small measure of the abundant support you all have shown Amy and me.

Our movement to revitalize Republican conservatism in Virginia is far from over. We will be in touch soon.

God Bless,

Jeff Frederick

You’ve become obsessed with Frederick and it’s making you ugly. You’re better than these trashy pictures and the obsessive posts about Jeff Frederick.

There’s nothing wrong with Jeff’s letter of appreciation to those who supported him. Sorry, but I have no desire to pick it apart.

I hope that you are soon able to move on from this.

  3. Vince Harris Paid Staffer to McDonnell for Governor…

    Obviously endorses this post…

I don’t know Jeff Frederick and am not privy to the innerworkings of RPV. When I read the charges leveled against Mr.Frederick, I was most concerned about the money allegations as the non-monetary charges were arguably subjective. The bottom line was if Mr. Frederick was misusing funds he must be removed from office.

As there was no annoucement as to what charges were proven, only that Mr. Frederick was removed, I can only speculate that, in the final analysis, the SCC members acted on the cululative evidence and in the best interests of the party.

What is damning for Mr. Frederick is that so many elected and party officials from across the Commonwealth thought him unfit. These are experienced folks who would not have taken this decision lightly and are not susceptable to a herd mentality.

Despite his actions, Mr. Frederick he is still one of us and I believe in second chances. At some point in the future, if it obvious that he has learned from his mistakes and he wants to help the party, he should be allowed to do so in some lesser capacity.

However, Virginia Republicans have an extraordinary task this year. By electing Republicans statewide we can begin to reverse the Obams tidal waive that struck in 2008.
If Mr. Frederick does anything else that reflects adversely on the party at this time, such as run at the convention, he must be smited, shunned and banned.

I hardly think it is fair to characterize Loudoun Insider as being obsessed with Jeff Frederick. If Frederick had quietly faded away after the vote to sack him y’all might have had a point. But Frederick is keeping himself front and center and is therefore very much a legitimate subject of continued discussion.

Jeff Frederick is cut from the same cloth as Rod Blagojevich. A total narcissist. The comments in his letter about sacrifices made for the party are deeply ironic. This guy couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the party. He so clearly puts his own narrow self interest before anything and everything else. His announcement of his candidacy at the May convention demonstrates that in spades.

As long as Jeff Frederick persists in believing he is the center of the universe and doing all he can to keep himself in the papers he is fair game. To say discussing his asshattery is obsessive just ain’t true.

Give it a rest. It’s over, move on.

It you spent 1/2 the time beating up Democrats as you did Jeff Frederick, Barrack Obama would be working at Dairy Queen*

    *thanks Joe

  7. It’s not over until Frederick announces he won’t run for Chairman at the convention.

I got the letter via email too, and came to the same conclusion. He’s trying to gauge support for another run.

We all just want this to go away.

  8. G. Stone, you think Obama is President because Loudoun Insider has spent the last three months railing against Jeff Frederick? That’s an interesting conclusion.

  9. Loudoun Insider, “he must be SMITED, shunned and banned”? Aren’t you one of the ones who was bad mouthing Tim Boyer just a couple of days ago for using inflamatory language? Smited: “to inflict a heavy blow upon, as with a hand, a tool, or a weapon.”

  10. LL, I’m absolutely not obssessed with him – he’s obssessed with himself and RPV. Brian is absolutely correct, if he faded away like he should this would be over. Read my post – I and nearly evcery other Republican in this state want this to be over and he keeps coming back with complete rubbish. As far as the photos – don’t be so damn serious! This is a blog, meant to be a little sensational. It’s poking fun at someone who is completely self-absorbed.

STD, Vincent doesn’t control me or what I post. If he tried to I’d be out of here. We actually believe in free speech here. Not like you – I posted two comments on your site yesterday – one postivie one about the Ma Deuce, and one negative one about your continued fealty to Frederick. You allowed the forst and didn’t post the second. So much for free speech at your site.

Stone, this isn’t over until he doesn’t run again for RPV Chairman. If he chooses to do so the blogosphere will uncover even more dirt on him and make it available for public perusal. The mainstream press obviously hasn’t bothered to look into any of the specific allegations – they obviously want to keep him around for entertainment and news story value, along with helping their favored Dems.

    - John Doe

Where in the hell did I say that??????? I didn’t, unless someone else is posting under my name somewhere.

  12. Ah, I just saw that Loudoun OUTSIDER wrote that in his/her comment. Not me. That’s a bit harsh, I concur, but nothing like “pay the ultimate price”.

  13. One last thing – it isn’t only me talking about this – look at some of the links in the post above and peruse the news outlets and other blogs. It’s a topic of discussion that I would have certainly prefferred to avoid. His continued need to see his name in print is what brings this scorn onto himself. How about those comparisons to Evita Peron, even from Norm Leahy? How about that tale of his college Republican days?

  14. Not Joe Flaherty

    Hey, that’s Count Floyd!

A-oooooooohhhhhhh. That Jeff Frederick is veeerrrrrryyyyy scary, kids!!! A-oooooooohhhhhh!

  15. Count Floyd, indeed – Monster Chiller Horror Theater! Selected solely for his humorous impact – something that too many “conservatives” seem to lack entirely.

From SCTV, the greatest comedy sketch show of all time.

  16. HFTB

LI – I took one look at the Count and burst out laughing. Indeed, that show was the best!

  17. Brett Schultz

As former supportter of Jeff’s i must say he lost he needs to go away… Also he doesn’t like his named spelled with a “G” i think he is like Superman’s enemy “Mixelplik” when ever you mispronounce his name he’d flip out and vanish…

But Jeff honestly as a friend go away, salvage your rep… don’t be the Ross Pierpoint of VA

  18. Brett Schultz

Allen must be the next RPV chair unite the party.

  19. Beware, Michael Steele is next, When Jeff Frederick isn’t around to kick around anymore, LI will turn his jihad against conservatives elsewhere.

  20. G. Stone

    G. Stone, you think Obama is President because Loudoun Insider has spent the last three months railing against Jeff Frederick? That’s an interesting conclusion.
    - VA Blogger

You are too smart to have asked this question, I think.

  21. I just got this from Anthony Bedell on Facebook:

“At this time, I am not a candidate for Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. It is my intention to fulfill my campaign pledge and serve out the remainder of my term as Chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee. I have obviously been flattered to be mentioned by so many as a possible candidate for Chairman of the RPV, but right now my time and energy is focused on the FCRC.”

    Anthony Bedell

    Fairfax County Republican Committee”

  22. a real RWN

Do you really think Steele is conservative? Pro choice, pro homosexual Steele? How can you call yourself a right wing nut?

  23. LI:
I have not blocked any of your comments by moderation… Jim Bowden had a problem posting a comment to my site recently also, so maybe there is an issue with Square Space (my hosts moderation).

As far as Vince and HIS blog goes, I will tell you what I told him… You are a vicarious (look it up) liability to him. Like a child who knocks over the wine rack in a grocery store, or a dog that bites someone, your actions reflect back onto him… a paid mcDonnell staffer.

Your opinions don’t bother me, calling a GOP Delegate with a great Conservative voting record (maybe what you really dont like), a scumbag, douche bag, and all the other unnecessary language you have slung all over the blogosphere is beyond uncalled for.

A democrat staffer was disciplined for calling Senator Allen MacacaWitz… remember? The day the Democrats have more class than our side is a sad day indeed!

By not simply asking you to quit name calling like an eight year old on a school yard is not censoring you. But I can gaurantee you wouldn’t be a contributer to STD, because you have no class… Not that I am some kind of pillar in the blogosphere, but 99% of what I type, is issue oriented, 1% provoked retaliation.

  24. STD…why don’t you go ahead and head back over to your dumbassed blog?
If I want to hear your whining, I’ll be right over.
I also find your attempt to silence a critic by pitching a fit with the owner of this blog …well…it wreaks of desperation, frankly.
I had a number of idiots call to try to locate my employer, so that they might try to silence me via that venue. It backfired on them when they learned that I was the boss. But I still hate desperate imbeciles who would take that route.

  25. STD, I really could care less what you think of me.

RWN, a commenter above asks – why in the world do you think Michael Steele is conservative? That’s a fair question. he really isn’t all that conservative, but I think he brings needed diversity to GOP leadership and his moderation is a plus. I have no plans to go after Steele. Sorry to disappoint you there, althoough after you learn more about him, you’ll probably be asking me to excoriate him.

And now you too whip out JIHAD???!!! I tell you, nothing pisses me off more than to see morons like you comparing an allowed for disciplinary action in the RPV Party Plan with Islamofascist Holy War against the infidels. Given what has occurred right here in this very country all too few years ago, you and any other idiot who calls this a JIHAD should be publicly flogged. Dumbass.

  26. More good thoughts from around the blogosphere:

    http://thevagentleman.blogspot.com/2009/04/disgraced-ex-party-chairman-suggests-he.html

  27. And Bwana nails it as usual:

    http://renaissanceruminations.wordpress.com/2009/04/08/jeff-frederick-proves-it-was-about-ego/

  28. NoVA Scout

Bwana writes so nicely. I usually forget whether I agree with him or not – I just enjoy reading the words.

  29. LI – call me as you wish, and let your temper get the best of you but the record speaks for itself you wanted to see a great conservative like Paul Protic removed from as Chair of the LCRC, you successful led a Democratic majority to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, and you adamantly supported the removal of a true conservative, despite his flaws, Jeff Frederick as RPV Chair. Call my me crazy, or even call me a dumba$$, but as far as I’m concerned, conservative fight for conservative ideals and the promotion of conservative leaders – none of which you have done.

  30. No more mention of JIHAD, dumbass???

We can differ on issues all day and night, but I will absolutely call you a dumbass and worse if you liken the allowed for removal of a Party Chairman to freaking JIHAD. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  31. Crimson Fist

Anyone else getting a bit of deja vu from last year’s 10th Congressional primary where the McKinely people wouldn’t stop ranting about how great and principled Vern was and how he was going to teach Congressman Wolf a lesson, only for their candidate to not even get 10%?

  32. G. Stone

    No.

  33. a real RWN

Unfortunately the righteous Vern McK was not able to break the 10% barrier.

  34. Vern was an embarrassment. He stood up there and mumbled on stage. That he almost got 10% of the vote amazed me. The guy sounded like Jim from Taxi. ‘Aaaaaahhhh, uhh, LOW TAXES!’

Great idea Vern! Can you string two snippets together without the ‘ugh’ word?

As for LI, if he only spent as much time beating up on Democrats as he does on Republicans …

  35. Jacob, first we have to get our own house in order. The biggest problem Republicans have had in the last ten years is themselves. Not only in betraying their core principles, but also in concentrating too much on issues that are not that important to the bulk of the citizenry. We need real conservative leadership at RPV, not an egomaniac.

  36. And as far as Vern goes, he got around 8.5% against Frank Wolf. These 8.5 Percenters are the same ones whining up a storm about Jeff Frederick. They are a very small proportion of the electorate, but they’re loud and obnoxious. RPV simply needs to realize how small their numbers are and not try to placate them constantly. I’ve said this many times, and it is true – the Democrats are much much better at working with and keeping a lid on their wingnuts.

  37. RWN

Wrong again LI – I and the majority of conservatives voted for Frank Wolf in Primary. And I supported Hager for Chairman, but elections have results so I supported Frederick, as flawed as he was when your jihad against was started. Just about every day your character attacks were posted on here, and it’s not just Frederick, and you’ve done this too other conservatives too. It’s high time it stopped and I’m going to call a spade a spade as it continues.

  38. Dumb. Ass.

Your continued use of the word JIHAD is simply inexcusable. How stupid are you???

Everything Frederick got here and elsewhere was solely because of his own narcissistic buffoonery. I’ve only taken on charlatan conservatives and those who are complete unadulterated a-holes. They do real conservatives more harm than any liberal could. You are a blind lemming. “It’s high time it stopped”??? And just what are you going to do about it???

  39. Nice to see you have no real understanding of the word JIHAD either, mom, and its implications for our survival.

  40. Mom

Poor response Francis, merely an attempt at deflection. I do fully understand the word, both in its peaceful and violent uses, perhaps you should look it up. BTW, place yourself in another’s shoes and consider the word Crusade, moron.

  41. Peaceful jihad???

    Are you J-Fred’s mom?

  42. J-Fred Shouldn't Run

Still, I get the complaint of some of his fans. He was elected at a convention, but ousted by a smaller group in the SCC. Yeah. Okay. J-Fred running again would do nothing by cause further dissension. He must know that. His supporters must know that. And if he must know that (it’s obvious he’s been a divisive leader), then he must know that the right thing to do is not to run. We need some new candidates.
