  • Loudoun Lady says:

Hope this is a TV ad, it is a good one.

  • Ric James says:

Agreed. This one needs to hit the air up here in NoVA.

  • Cato the Elder says:

Niice. It’s blocked at 30 seconds, which mean’s airtime. On another note, I’ve noticed a significant ramp-up of direct NRA activist participation. Which is a good thing because we need those boots on the ground to counter all the SEIU turds.

  • Too Conservative says:

    Yes will be on TV

  • R says:

Creigh Deeds is anything but deceitful. The sick thing is that anyone would support anyone who poured that thesis junk from a pen onto a page in the first place. Enacted in full, in part or not at all, it doesn’t say much about Godliness or character in general.

  • R says:

I really don’t understand that part of it at all.

  • Cato the Elder says:

Creigh Deeds is anything but deceitful”

Wait, what? Is he deceitful or just clueless? I mean, the porky-pig you tube moment heard round the Commonwealth of him trying nuance general revenue vs. not general revenue leads most people to the conclusion that he’s either a lying sack of shit or woefully incompetent.
    *
I’m going with a little of both. He’s managed to portray himself as a typical, bumbling country shyster with neither the intellectual heft nor the right temperament to lead Virginia.
    *
    Congratulations!

  • Alter of Freedom says:

Its always interesting to hear the left go round and round about this thesis thing and how we should not allow Bob to be able to walk away from a paper he wrote decades ago YET of course these are the same people who found it perfectly acceptable and legitmate that our President could sit in a church for twenty years and then simply say he has left it and then that be the end of it. Come on lefties, you know who you are…..

  • BlackOut says:

Vince, what are you doing! Are you turning this website into a running commercial!! Maybe this isn’t happening to everyone but everytime I visit TC the McDonnell commercial starts. Come on! Is that really necessary? Are you trying to turn this into a vanilla rah rah website without debate or interaction with those who may challenge claims made? Who ever recently said it I agree, this new format and the content is way below the standards usually expected out of TC. It’s like watching an ole friend deal with advancing alzheimer.

  • Matt says:

Why is the print on those newspapers in Latin?

  • Ric James says:

I saw this ad air last night, looked good. (Incidentally, the video fires the second I bring Too Conservative up in my browser. This is the only time I’ve seen a video do this here so something’s different about the way it’s embedded.)

Hey, R, if you can’t see where Deeds is being deceitful in this ad then you’re just refusing to see. And leave the matter of Godliness out of it: I don’t think your authority to speak to the rest of us on that matter has been established. Stick to the politics.

  • Loudoun Moderate says:

BlackOut. You are not alone–every time I visit TC I get the McDonnell commercial. Is this intentional? Is this just the beginning and the site will feature more of these ads? Is this a paid commercial? Has anyone seen this type of ad on other blogs?

At this point, I have to admit that I don’t know whose campaign is telling the truth. Barefaced lies should be prohibited in political campaigns. But this brings to mind the question: “How can you tell when a politician is lying?” The answer: “His lips are mooving.”

Are McDonnell’s allegations against his opponent true? Are Deeds’ allegations against McDonnell, e.g., birth control for married couples, true?

I need more information before I enter the polling booth in November.

  • Ric James says:

Yep, here it is. In the embed code you’ve got this parameter:
    .
    “param name=”src” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/7t-LgoCua1o&hl=en&fs=1&autoplay=1;” /”
    .
Note the “autoplay” there at the end is set to “1″. That’s probably going to mean this vid fires up immediately for so long as it appears on the initial page; at present that’s 8 posts deep. That’s bad enough when it’s the 1st post on the page but when it gets down to 6 or 7 it won’t be obvious where the sound track is coming from. You should change than param.

  • Ric James says:

Loudoun Moderate, just curious: how will you go about getting that information?

  • R says:

Regarding the thesis, the man was 34 when he wrote it. I’m 26 and couldn’t imagine writing that sort of thing. It would be incredibly embarrassing. I’m sure you gentlemen would agree that you couldn’t write something like that.

  • R says:

Not only embarrassing but downright uncomfortable and way too confrontational.

  • Not John S. Mosby says:

The guy with signs in NoVA saying “Fairfax’s Own” and signs in Tidewater saying “Virginia Beach’s Own” is claiming the other side is deceitful?

  • Anthony Bedell says:

Great ad. Accurate ad… and Deeds is running out of time.

  • RichmondDem says:

Wow, someone’s internals must be dropping!

  • RichmondDem says:

“he guy with signs in NoVA saying “Fairfax’s Own” and signs in Tidewater saying “Virginia Beach’s Own” is claiming the other side is deceitful?”

Especially since he was born in Philadelphia of all places.

  • Cato the Elder says:

“Especially since he was born in Philadelphia of all places.”
    *
Birthplace of the Constitution! Coincidence? I think not.
    *
    “someone’s internals must be dropping!”
    *
Completely agree. Personal overtures from sitting president not resulting in endorsement from state’s most significant AA politician should correctly cause you Marxists to shit your pants. Phew. Those are some “dropping internals” we could have done without…

  • kelley in virginia says:

for someone who loves politics (any kind) as much as i, i am finding it almost impossible to get interested in this race. the actors are somewhat interesting (or not less so than in some previous races). but i can only focus on national politics.

did yall see Obama say (i saw it on CNN so it might not be true) “i am not interested in victory”.? he was referring to military matters.

sorry, mcdonnell & deeds: you can never be more eloquent than my president.

  • RichmondDem says:

Talking about Doug Wilder and Communism as though they’re relevant. Tell me, is George H.W. Bush President where you come from Cato? How ’bout that new NES game?

  • Lovettsville Lady says:

Please fix the embedding of this video! It’s a great ad, but I’m sick of hearing it over and over and over.

    Thanks!

  • Cato the Elder says:

That GWH Bush game is a stinker, as far as sales go. But that new Wii “Teabag Barry Soetoro 2010″ entry is selling like hotcakes! Kids love it because it’s easy, it practically wins itself. They don’t even have to play!

  • Not John S. Mosby says:

Republicans candidates love to smear Democrats with lies. In this case, since Deeds is bringing up stuff that McDonnell actually wrote, Republicans claim it’s Democrats lying?

Bullies always puss out when the kid getting bullied on punches the shit out of the bully. Republicans have a list of things that they believe they can do to Democrats, but that Democrats absolutely can’t do to them. A Taliban-style caveman like McDonnell gets pissed when the other side calls him a Taliban-style caveman. Imagine that!

  • Too Conservative says:

    Embedding fixed.

I wanted it playing to ensure everyone saw it!

  • Ric James says:

    Thank you, we did!

  • Ed Myers says:

Where have the people who want to discuss local Loudoun issues instead of candidates gone? This site has become nothing more than partisan advertisement. Turning off the annoying autoplay video is a tiny step back from political hucksterism, but it doesn’t address the lack of original local content.

  • AFF says:

    OT-
    .
Ed, I’ve read some of your comments here and on other blogs. VAB turned me on to http://www.theagitator.com and I thought you might enjoy it too.
    .
It’s written from a right of center libertarian perspective with a lot of focus on the increasing militarization of our police forces- a good read.

  • “noticed a significant ramp-up of direct NRA activist participation”

    Awww shucks. You noticed. :)
Damned right we are. We’re going to lead this fight because the opposition has dared to question our firearms rights. So much that the NRA has been forced to switch their hitch to a new horse thiis time around.
