I just got a copy of a note that Anthony Bedell sent to the FCRC Executive Board confirming some of the things we’ve been hearing. Here’s the text:

I am sure you have seen some recent speculation about me on the blogs. So let me be the first to tell you that… yes… I am truly undecided on whether or not to seek a second term.
.
It is for the simple reason that if I do it… I want to make sure I can give the same 100% dedication to the job … and the FCRC… as I have over the last 12 months (15 months at the end of my term).
.
Right now… I feel like I can’t make that kind of two-year commitment. It is just that simple.
.
My plan is to think about it more over the holidays… and make an announcement one way or the other in early January… maybe even at the Jan 5th FCRC meeting.
.
That way it will either end the speculation or leave enough time for others to run for Chairman with the election to be held in March.
.
So that’s the story… other than that is is business as usual at FCRC and we are doing all we can to help Steve Hunt and Samantha Vanterpool Rucker.

Like I and others have said, it would be a shame if Anthony steps down, given the significant success the Committee has had. I hope we can persuade him to stay.

This is bad news, follks. First Caroline and now Bedell? Yeah, yeah, I hear ya, there are other qualified individuals to take the reigns. But the simple fact of the matter is … there just aren’t that many people capable of what these two guys did. They are special individuals who aren’t easily replaced. Both committees could easily fall into disrepair. Caroline has made up his mind and made his decision. I hope that those close to him can convince Bedell he is needed for one more term. We can’t start over in both of these crucial committees at this time.
Loudoun will be fine. I’ve talked to Candace. Her resolve is absolute. She is the choice of the present Chair to continue his lead. She’s got tons of talent available to her. The team is ready. I suspect Bedell’s team and resolve is equally prepared.
After last night, we know that there will be opposition. Sigh……………..
LI, I think you’re being a bit too negative. BPM has the right attitude.
We’ll see, but you know I’m generally cynical when it comes to politics.
I never noticed LI (HA!)…..
