Candace Strother – The Best Christmas Present The LCRC Could Hope For

By Loudoun Insider

Loudoun County Republicans were extremely fortunate to have the services of an amazing individual like Glen Caroline the last two years as Chairman.  His leadership was recognized statewide when he won the Unit Leader of the Year Award from RPV.  Glen truly united the LCRC (except for a few diehard naysayers who will never be united with anyone) and forged a new way forward to victory for Loudoun Republicans.

candaceNow, as Glen decides to not seek re-election, we are equally as blessed to have another outstanding individual ready to step into Glen’s huge shoes, and hit the ground running.  Candace Strother has a political resume like no one else on this committee, including working in the administration of every Republican’s hero, Ronald Reagan.  I am particularly impressed with her work with Project Hope.

Candace has put together a great little website and blog with more information about her, and her thoughts on where she wants to take the LCRC.  Don’t listen to me or any other blogger go on about her, go to her website and learn for yourself.  You’ll be impressed, and you’ll come to the inevitable conclusion, reached by Glen Caroline himself, that she is absolutely the right choice to continue leading this committee.

  • Candace is a formidable candidate, and as you’ve indicated… she can carry on the excellent work of our fantastic current Chairman. If Glen endorses her, it’s an automatic conclusion that he thinks she’s fully qualified to carry on his outstanding legacy of an outstanding campaign in 2009, and an overlooked victory in 2008, in which the LCRC delivered a 3 point whallop against the high seas of the democrat “hope and change” machine.
We were outspent in that race, we had out-of-state paid personnel from all over the country, yet we posted 3% better than our peers in surrounding counties. All with a “homegrown” team.

I can’t believe the stuff I read whenever LI posts. She seems like a good person and would probably do a good job, but this guy’s hatred of so many people just turns my stomach to anything he supports.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Oh please. Make up your own mind. Please tell me how many people I “hate”. Are you really so small minded that you’ll reflexively be against something/someone I am for?

  • Rob Iola says:

At least RI’s not selling his pro-life stance for $100M (or whatever the final bribe to Nebraska will be after the Senate-House conference)…

Sorry to go OT – thank God we’ve got a candidate like Candace to keep the momentum going!

  • Loudoun Lady says:

Candace’s blog is very nice and I hope people that have honest questions on her vision for the LCRC visit it.

  • Anon says:

Where in Loudoun does Candice live?

  • Edmundburkenator says:

Oh oh… sounds like Candace may not be right enough for LL.

  • CSR says:

She lives in Ashburn Anon. Good blog and good email the other day from her announcing her run. Good luck Candace, you have my support.

  • G. Stone says:

I have known Candace for two years. She is an intelligent and principled leader. Her resume is frankly off the charts. Candace has served two Republican administrations, the first being that of Ronald Reagan. Her work at the Heritage Foundation was first rate. She is the thoughtful, principled conservative leader this committee needs moving forward. We are lucky.

Visit her website and reach out to her via that site, you will be impressed.

You may want to check your tea leaves.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

I think I saw Loudoun Lady say somewhere that she’s supporting Candace, but she should speak for herself. Greg Stone just sent out a very impressive endorsement email of Candace. While he’s still a bit of a bomb thrower on some issues, he has the potential to be a great statesman I believe!

  • Edmundburkenator says:

I stay away from anything related to tea of late, G.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

    That’s funny, edmund!

  • The Professor says:

Candace is the right person to lead the LCRC. She has an impressive resume and understands grassroots politics. The LCRC has experienced phenomenal change over the last two years – in a very good way. The organization building efforts must continue in order to re-elect Wolf and prepare for the big local elections in 2011, after redistricting. From recruiting candidates to poll workers, the LCRC had better be ready because the Dems are active and don’t want a repeat of Nov. 2009. Republicans need good candidates and well prepared and funded organization to back them. Now is the time to continue building up the organization, not tear it apart with wrong leadership.

  • Edmundburkenator says:

I’m curious. Who is against this person and why? The only thing I can see is that she’s OVER qualified.

  • Loudoun Lady says:

Edmund, I’ve already endorsed Candace along with dozens of Committee members. I’m drinking tea right now – believe it or not the GREEN variety.

  • Loudoun Lady says:

BTW, G. Stone’s endorsement in his email is excellent. We live in serious times, county level postions are where it begins.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Edmund (capital E now?), the same small coterie of constant complainers about Glen Caroline are those who are not supporting this fine candidate. You are correct, she is almost too qualified for a county Chairman position, but Loudoun is a critical county in statewide politics now. Glen Caroline, being national Grassroots Director for the NRA, was probably what most would consider to be over qualified as well. We are lucky to have both residing here in Loudoun County and willing to take part in the local political process.

  • edmundburkenator says:

    There, fixed the e.
    .
LL, glad you are drinking the green tea. It looks like Candace would approve of your dietary choice.
    .
When do we not live in serious times?

My opening line when addressing some LCRC folks weeks ago was, Let’s hurry up and elect her before she changes her mind.

    Loudoun Insider
Absolutely, we are lucky, we have some very talented people willing to serve locally. It also speaks to just how important Loudoun County is in Virginia politics.

  • What is her background in local politics? What has she done with the LCRC in particular?

  • G. Stone says:

LTI-Candace has served as one of my Precint Captains. She has worked precints in both Sterling and Ashburn over the last several elections. She has worked and helped Leesburg Chair Pete Fagan with the Ashburn Farmers Market. The farmers market program was developed by Pete and organized by several LCRC members. Candace worked the Ashburn site for Pete. Candace orchestrated the very popular event this past election with Sheila Johnson for the McDonnell campaign. Candace interfaced with RPV and the McDonnell campaign as well as serving as the emcee of the event. From that effort the McDonnell campaign requested Candace be the emcee of the last campaign stop in Leesburg which was a rousing success.

  • Loudoun Lady says:

Edmund (e), I could/would/should argue that the problems we face today as a country are much more serious than any other time in my lifetime, but maybe tomorrow. We are wrapping gifts and baking cookies and I’d like to remain in a good mood.

And yes, Candace probably would give me the thumbs up on green tea. I swear it has healing powers!
