bucholz.photoI just had to run that photo again!  As mentioned in the LTM, the Dems have a Chairman contest of their own coming up since US Department of Energy Stimulus Money Disburser and failed LCDC Chairman Tim Buchholz is not running for re-election.  After helping Barrack Obama win Loudoun County and being rewarded with a cushy consulting gig for the federal government doling out stimulus cash, Buchholz ”led” the LCDC as it was obliterated in this past year’s elections that saw every single HOD seat go to the GOP.  Frankly, I wish he would stick around!

There is a contest to be his replacement between multiple failure candidate Mike Turner and 10th Democratic District Committee member Carolyn Ronis.  As someone facetiously remarked in a comment below on another post, you have to wonder how long Turner will stick it out, since he bulled his way to the front to run against Joe May (after losing the Dem race to take on the invincible Frank Wolf to Judy Feder) then mysteriously and quickly quit the race.  The LCDC caucus will be held this Saturday.  I have no clue  who is favored.

Just the mentioning of Judy Feder makes me shiver, those commercials still haunt me! It will be interesting to see if anyone has any real input on this.

  2. Barbara Munsey

Speaking of haunting Loudoun Lady, maybe we’ll get lucky and BVBL will rerun the post with Feder as Gozer the Gozerian from Ghostbusters.

  3. Awe…this is just sad. I was really hoping Timmy would tough it out and lead the charge against the citizens again.

  4. Michael

LI – to be fair, I had heard Turner had conlficts with work which is why he bowed out of the May race – I believe as a Fox contributor. Maybe that gig is over and he is able to focus more on political stuff now.

  5. Loudoun Insider

Who knows what his reasons were, Michael, but it ticked off a lot of Dems because apparently he was quite quick to clear out the field of any other challengers then quit unexpoectedly when it was too late to recruit another candidate. And if he had such a work conflict shouldn’t he had known about that BEFORE he entered the race??? The man obviously has no political acumen and has no business being a committee chairman, but that’s fine with me if they want to go that way.

  6. Lynne Phelps

I will be going to this caucus and am encouraging all of the Democrats I know to write in the Weintraubs as co-chairmen of the LCDC to rule as a gay rights junta. This is change we need here in Loudoun County.

  7. Michael

Turner has a lot more appeal then Feder….but so does anyone else…anyways, anyone seeking to be chair of the LCDC is a hardline progressive that should never hold public office.

  8. Dan

I don’t care about the LCDC. Just don’t let anything happen to my main man Michael Steele over at the RNC. Some malcontents are saying mean nasty things about the Hip Hop Chairman and it has to stop.
    .
Michael is the best chairman ever! It would break my heart if he were ousted in some sort of coup.
    .
It must be those darned RINOs who are out to get him.

  9. Dan, I sense your tongue in your cheek. Lacking that, you also lack political acumen to make any comments. The hard-liner Conservatives are the one’s seeking Steele’s ouster…and they do not love the RNC, the LCRC, or any unit that gave the McDonnell’s team a win. It doesn’t make sense.
They’re cutting their nose off to spite their face.

  10. Lynne Phelps,

I’d like to attend the Republican caucus but can’t find it on the LCRC calendar. Please post time/place. The LCRC needs my help a lot more than the LCDC.

  11. Barbara Munsey

Gee Dean, that’s odd–I can think of a lot of “hard liner conservatives” in Loudoun who worked hard on the recent statewide successes.

    Unity unity, monk!

    lol

  12. mr. ed

Were Tim Buchholz and TBM separated at birth, or is it just that photo??

  13. Loudoun Lady

Dan, Do I sense a racial tone in your “hip-hop” comment? You progressives usually know better than to slur, but then you are hypocrites too, so…….

  14. Dan

Monk, of course I was kidding about the RINOs. But I don’t think you are correct about the move against Steele being based on ideology in any way. The man is a total buffoon. A complete embarrassment. Any Republican with an ounce of professionalism would want to see him disappear. No one is ever going to mistake him for Haley Barbour.

  15. Dan

Loudoun Lady, as I am sure you are well aware, Michael Steele himself created the Hip Hop theme around his chairmanship. And it has nothing to do with his race and everything to do with his clownish behavior. He spoke at length about it. You couldn’t have missed it. Why, his blog at GOP.com was even called “What Up” until the adults over there changed that. That was around the time that they wisely limited the Committee funds he could spend without a second party signing off.
    .
I am completely sincere when I say please don’t fire the guy. I think he is a wonderful chairman. I smile every time I see him on TV.

  16. Loudoun Lady

Dan, Actually I am not aware of anything you posted on Steele’s “hip hop image”, and if that were the case shouldn’t you have noted your insightful knowledge or used quotation marks to signify your meaning?

As it stands I will assume you are a racist rat bastard, intent on bring a black man down. Please seek counseling with Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, they can set you on the path the righteousness.

  17. Dan

Ah, Loudoun Lady. Always good for a laugh.
    .
I had no idea that you paid so little attention to Republican politics that you would be so completely unaware of Steele’s history at the helm of the national GOP. That’s rather odd for someone who regularly reads and comments on Republican blogs. But I will take you at your word with regard to your ignorance of these matters.
    .
“I will assume you are a racist rat bastard, intent on bring a black man down.”
    .
Now that is the type of comment that I have come to expect from you. You don’t like what someone else says so you attack them and resort to name calling. Although you usually use better grammar.
    .
Please feel free to view Michael Steele as a wonderful chairman. I will stick with my original assessment. No one is ever going to mistake him for Haley Barbour.

  18. There is unity IN the party, Barb. The problem is the asses outside of the party.

  19. Like Thomas before him, it’s always refreshing to see the libs attack any man of color who dares to defy them. Think Keith Gladsney, here, folks.

  20. Loudoun Lady

That was tongue in cheek Dan, but you are a rat, just not rat bastard. Mostly I just wanted to give you a little leftist nonsense to chew on, happy Friday!
    *
I have followed Steele in general, don’t hang on his every word and take it as gospel for the party – never did with any Chairman. I’m sure you don’t either even in your own party, and do so with ours only when it suits you to bash us – then presume we care when you tell us what to do, or not to do.
    *
BTW, Howard Dean is such a fine example of a leader, full of insight and wit. I can’t get enough of him AND his yell – YAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!

  21. Dan

The comical yell aside, Dean has to rank on the Haley Barbour side of the party chairman scale. He was incredibly successful.
    .
The “smart” people in the party scoffed at his 50 state strategy. But it sure paid handsome dividends. The “smart” people knew better. They knew that it was all about turning out your base and that you didn’t waste time in those places where you weren’t historically strong. So much for the “smart” people.
    .
The last few times I have seen Dr. Dean on TV though I have been wondering what is up with his eyebrows? Maybe it is just incompetent makeup people.
    .
I think your party is still on that “turn out the base” program. That is clearly the purpose for creating the tea party thing. To gin up the base. It may pay some dividends in an off year election, but the pup tent won’t get it done in 2012.

  22. Dan

Monk, do you really think the Republicans trying to oust Steele are liberals? And that they are doing it because of his race?
    .
I think you are wrong on both counts. They aren’t liberals. And they are trying to give him the boot because he is an incompetent ass. Pigmentation has nothing to do with it.

  23. Loudoun Lady

Dan, Your input on where our party is now, has been and will be is duly ignored. As I have stated before, our ship lost it’s course listening to too much nonsense from within our own party, and now we are righting our course.
    *
Clearly you don’t understand the “tea party” thing, but good luck pedaling your analysis. I think I have heard it all before, as the song goes….

  24. Michael

Monk – McDonnell is a hard line conservative… he just didn’t campaign on it, just like Obama sounded like Mr. centrist during the campaign…No conservatives want to get rid of McDonnell, just the Dede Scuzzawuzzo, Snowe, Collines, Specter, and those types. For the most part, conservatives find these Rs to be useless and not much different then the Ds…

  25. Not GayrVA

Well Lynne, it looks like if Ms. Ronis is selected that GLBT junta may just come true!

  26. Michael

“There is unity IN the party, Barb. The problem is the asses outside of the party.” – BPMs version of the big tent…Dan is correct…

  27. Dem Insider

As an insider on the dem scene I can tell you Mike dropped out for family reasons.

  28. Loudoun Insider

    That’s helpful DI! (?)
    .
Ronis makes a comment in that link above:

“This is great step, and I hope that we see GLBT candidates in Virginia very soon.”

Does she not realize there are already gays in the General Assembly and in local offices as well???

  29. Barbara Munsey

Michael, maybe the “asses outside the party” are only people like me.

    rotfl

  30. CSR

After the 2pm caucus will someone post who won…all very interesting over there at the LCDC. Who ran uncontested for the other positions besides Chair?

  31. Loudoun Insider

I’m sure someone will post the results. They have contests going on for Vice Chair slots as well.

  32. Loudoun Insider

Mike Turner won in a squeeker – 53 to 47.

  33. six votes. And they’re off…. !!
Mighty big requirements from the shoes he’s about to step into.
Having seen his past runs (and more importantly – his temperment) I don’t think he was the man for the job.But that works to our favor, so it’s a great move by the LCDC.

Dan….you need to work on your reading comprehension. Michael would do well to attend that class with you. Perhaps you can both work thru your inability to read straightforward comments without interjecting your own slant in what is typed before you.

  34. HWyatt

    Who won for Vice Chair?

  35. pissedoffbob

I hear from a fairly reliable source that Ronis talked about change and hope (ho hum, typical dem stuff) while Turner ordered the group who to vote for, and they did. I also heard that Ronis called the Weintraubs about running, but they wouldn’t return her calls (that will teach her)!!!!

So, this Ronis woman came from out of nowhere and apparently the Turner people are pissed because he thought he had it locked up in a landslide! I just can’t see Turner sticking this out, and I can’t see the dems continuing to follow orders.

The question is – will Ronis stick with the party, or take her followers and go somewhere else?
