What’s Up With Trautz?

By Loudoun Insider

Tea Party candidate Jim Trautz has suspended his campaign against Frank Wolf for the 10th CD Republican nomination.  Any inside scoop out there?  I have none but haven’t been looking.

I continue to be amazed at how anything thinks Frank Wolf isn’t one of the best congressman in America. I’m part of LI “right wing fringe” cadre, but I’ve voted for Wolf in the past when I lived in Herndon and Centreville and I would happily do it again.

    Vote For Frank!

  • NotJohnSMosby says:

Sounds like Trautz is going to run as an independent.

  • Bwana says:

NJSM, that is how I read his website-but I will say that anyone who uses stalwart to describe his efforts might just be a little full of himself.

As to why he is following this course…I heard he was having trouble getting adequate volunteers to get him signatures to get on the GOP primary ballot.

  • Yappy says:

It is likely that he just realized that the Tea Party crazies will be done by October.

  • Lovettsville Lady says:

Did the option of running as an independent JUST occur to Trautz? If he can’t get 1,000 signatures, what makes him think that he can get the signatures, money, and votes to run as an independent? This poor guy is no threat to Frank Wolf, the best, and hardest working, Congressman on the Hill. I’ve yet to meet anyone in the 10th, republican, democrat, or independent, who didn’t LOVE Frank Wolf. Perhaps that’s why he won every single precinct his last time at bat.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

LL, you just got here – trust me there are a few people who don’t love him, most of which are in the LCRC!

  • Bwana says:

To continue LI’s thought…or at least don’t appreciate him-note the continuing absence of his pic from the TC page.

Yeah, I know, but it’s the only drum I’ve got! ;-)

  • NoVA Scout says:

Bwana – I think Mr. Wolf is held in fairly high regard on this site. TC chooses the pictures and they generally reflect his enthusiasms of the moment, but I don’t think he has anything against the Congressman. The anti-Wolf stuff generally comes from the far right wing and often reflects some arriviste full of buzzwords trying to take on a record of substance. The usual stuff we get in this Party in this state.

  • notjohnsmosby says:

Wolf lost precincts in Herndon/Oak Hill the last few times against Feder. Even Socas won a few. There are plenty of people who don’t like Wolf, perhaps more for the friends he keeps than anything else. Years ago he was somewhat of an independent vote but over the last decade he’s done whatever Delay or Boehner or whichever Republicant is in charge of their lunatic fringe tells him to do.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Scout is correct – I have nothing to do with those photos. Wolf certainly belongs there.

  • mytwocents says:

Just really don’t think he had a clue as to what he was getting into. That’s the bottom line. He obviously tried to paint Wolf as a liberal. That was both ridiculous and stupid. I

  • Sibyl Says says:

Trautz isnt a bad guy. Many have encouraged him to get more involved with the local party and and begin his political career working with and for the people he wants to represent. I think he and Cindy probably have a lot to offer. We should look forward to seeing them at LCRC meetings and embrace them as principled conservatives dedicated to the cause.

  • G.Stone says:

Nicely said Sibyle. Addition and multiplication, not subtraction and division.

  • Only if he and his boys stop bashing republicans and start fighting democrats.
And notjohnsmosby….your dumb ass does it again. Wolf does what his ethics tell him is the right course. He lays it out for all to see, and then he walks it. Some may not care for the way he lays it out there….but he never deviates from that course. Which is why he fares so well in his district.
People don’t like to be told one thing and then watch their elected people go exactly opposite of their word.

I have my doubts that Trautz or any of his handful of supporters will ever raise a finger to help Wolf or any other local GOP official in Loudoun for that matter. The campaign suspension statement was not exactly positive. I think Trautz made basic political miscalculation and will probably run off into the sunset.I hope I am wrong but I doubt it.

  • I hope I’m wrong too. But just in case, memorize Ken Vaughn’s name. O’ve heard some whispers, and I hope they were misplaced.

  • Lovettsville Lady says:

Yes, I am fairly new to Loudoun but I know that most folks love Frank Wolf, other than a few on the fringe, without a solid grip on sanity. Since I am new, I am wondering if Mr and Mrs Trautz have been active in the party prior to his candidacy? That’s not to say we don’t now welcome them into LCRC. Just wondering…………..

  • Dominican Bound says:

Lovettsville, not a peep outta them until January of this year, when they applied. They were voted in, only to have the Party Canvass terminate their memberships. Perhaps their names were among the 190 who applied for membership in the Committee for this cycle.

  • Bob Wersheir says:

I understand how some people may, at a glance, think Wolf is a conservative, but the closer you inspect his record, the thinner his conservative creds become. Consider the following: He’s voted for McCain/Feingold; for Pelosi’s light-bulb ban; for overriding Bush’s veto of S-Chip; for raising CAFE standards, for raising minimum wage, for Housing programs Bush had marked for elimination, for greater PBS and UN spending, for Democrat pork-barrel; against GOP spending cuts, against gun rights, against online freedom of speech, against property rights, etc. etc.; AND he was the mastermind behind the ill-fated “Iraq Study Group” that could have cost us the war. And that’s just a start. There’s more info at the following: http://removerinos.com/WolfFrank.html . Still….I certainly hope no third-party candidate third-party candidate gift-wraps his seat for the DEMS.
