Although we didn’t get a chance to get out there this weekend, I heard a lot of reports from friends and neighbors over the weekend that Viva Vienna was a blast. It was three days full of fun in downtown Vienna, and I urge everyone to head out there next year. Unfortunately, my wife is nearing the “danger zone” of the pregnancy where she could be ready to go at any time and this weekend was mandatory bed rest.
.
I did hear from a lot of folks that Republicans were well represented at the event – with booths from the Herrity campaign and FCRC. Not sure where Keith Fimian was as he didn’t have a booth, but the rest of the 11th District primary was there – Herrity, Connolly, and the two independents Chris Decarlo and John Lemon (who was handing out lemons). The Democrats were also well represented by my delegate, Mark Keam, who was there as well and has some good photos up on Facebook.
.
I’m sorry I missed catching up with everyone. Next year I’ll be there and I’ll drag the wife and the little tyke with me!

Is Chris Decarlo seriously running in the 11th Congressional race? He just ran for the Providence school board seat and a delegate seat SIMULTANEOUSLY!
I missed it too, but it was too stinkin hot to walk around Viva Vienna! My kids went to ride the junky rides with my parents – who lived in Vienna for 40 years. Normally I go down and cap off the day with a beer and chili dog at the The Vienna Inn, where all the locals and former locals congregate.

Hopefully it is much cooler next year Brian. There is nothing worse than taking a baby or toddler to an event/fair in really hot weather – where at some point you look at your spouse and say “Exactly WHY did we come here?”.
Viva Vienna was a lot of fun but definitely hot! It was a great turnout and my kids really enjoyed the rides and some of the food… Chap Petersen and I shared a booth this year, and since neither of us are on the ballot this year, we gave out Virginia tourism materials and other official government information. I agree that both Republican and Democratic candidates (as well as a couple of independents) and county committees were well represented, but the politicking didn’t overshadow the social and casual nature of the event, which is the way I think it should be. Vienna Rotary raised about $120,000 from the event, which will support local charities throughout the year. Good luck with the baby and take care of Kay Ann!
I am a Madison HS Grad and wanted to go down for the great event in order to get some VI chili dogs and to show my support for Mayor Seeman, the mother of outstanding LCRC leader Tom Seeman who was strangely deprived of a LCRC leadership position by the new LCRC leadership bund.
On that note, why on earth would Tom Seeman, who ran a stellar Precinct Operations program for the Loudoun Republican 2009 team, not be kept on as LCRC Precinct Operations Chairman? Did he refuse to drink the Cucinelli Kool-Aid or refuse to sign on the Dick Black/Suzanne Volpe Purity Pledge?
Ron
I share your admiration for Tom Seeman. Tom is top shelf. Just know that Tom is engaged, working side by side with the new leadership and doing a great job. His role has changed a bit but Mark and his ex-com are including Tom on much of what is getting done.
Divisions are a distraction and counter productive. Tom would be the first to tell you he is engaged and has plenty to do.
Thank you, Mr. Stone. That is comforting news.
But, since you have a reputation of telling it like it is, could you answer this for me:
When a NFL team wins the Super Bowl or a MLB team wins the World Series, you DO NOT see the the coach retired, the star players sacked, and the whole game plan changed, right?
So, then why on Earth would Chairman Mark Sell of the LCRC not just keep the award-winning Glen Caroline team 100% intact and go on to victories in 2010 and 2011 as the LCRC won in 2009?
I just do not get it.
Chairman Mark Sell was given the keys to the car that just won the Daytona 500 and his first item of business was to replace the engine.
Sorry about all the sports analogies; they help me explain things better.
Ron, I don’t know anyone that would, as chairman, keep 100% of the previous administration. I’m not sure that’s even fair to ask of any chairman.
