BREAKING: Convention Will Be Caddigan vs.Stewart

By Too Conservative

Maureen Caddigan will be the opposition to Supervisor Corey Stewart

This will make for interesting convention.

While I believe many of my ideological counterparts in PWC will be supporting Caddigan, I am withholding my endorsement, and will likely remain out of the race.

I will not be posting negative attacks on either Stewart or Caddigan, but will continue to bring you all up to date behind the scenes information from both sides.

Let the race begin.

NLS has it uphere as well.

Why should you post negative attacks on Stewart? After all, you’ve thoroughly trashed him in the past.

  • Mom says:

If I were Maureen, I would be more worried about his endorsement or egad, TC volunteering for her campaign. Seems to have been the kiss of death last year.

  • What happened to Marty Nohe?

  • Ano says:

    COREY’S GONNA WIN!!!!

  • NNNT says:

    what happened to marty

  • NoVA Hokie says:

    What a joke.
First of all, you’re acting like your endorsement actually matters.
Second of all, you’ve spent the entire life of this blog bashing Stewart at ever possible opportunity. So why do you find it necessary to withold your “endosement” now?

  • James Young says:

Maybe Vince has just found someone he hates more than Corey, NoVA Hokie. At least, that’s Ben’s theory.

On the other hand, Vince called Corey a “liar” for suggesting that Chairman Sean wounldn’t finish his term. Vince still has not apologized for that little smear.

  • bobby says:

Caddigan?? Nohe would’ve actually had a chance against Stewart. Game. Set. Match.

  • ZB says:

Serious question—why is Corey Stewart perceived as being so much of a far-right conservative vs. the Nohe/Cadddigan/Connaughton group?

Of all of the Republicans running for Prince William County Board of Supervisors in 2003, Corey Stewart was the ONLY one to seek, receive, and accept the endorsement of the Log Cabin Republicans. Wouldn’t that indicate that he’s a bit more moderate?

    ZB,

Not when everything is all about money.

  • NoVA Scout says:

ZB: At this level, “conservative” and other labels are just marketing tools that candidates try to exploit. Connaughton is as conservative as they come as a matter of political philosophy, but folks like to plaster themselves with labels knowing that there are always people who will vote for a pllug of tobacco if it has a “conservative” label on it. When it gets right down to running some of these Northern Virginia counties, all the ideology of either stripe won’t do you nearly as much good as going to the sewer department to find out why Mrs. Brown’s pipes are backing up.

  • NoVa Scout says:

There are some timing issues here and it has been raised elsewhere that the PWC Committee may have (or may not have) jumped the gun in terms of the timing of the creation of a vacancy (No one knows when the vacancy will occur other than we all assume that Connaughton’s resignation will occur very close in time to his swearing in). With confirmation hearings tomorrow and with the possibility that the Senate will be in a housekeeping mood to clear off the table before it goes into August recess, it may well be that the PWC Committee’s jumping the gun on the vacancy won’t much matter. We’ll see.

But the other timing issue to keep in mind is that, assuming the good people in PW vote in September, they’re just going to have to do it again in a year. It’s interesting to speculate whether it’s a help or a hindrance to win the special and then have to go out and defend yourself in 13 or so months.

  • anonymous says:

Assuming one of the two declared Republican candidates is victorious whenever this election takes place, when will the election be held to fill THAT vacancy? And that would be a good thread – who runs for Dumfries supervisor if Caddigan wins, and who runs for Occoquan supervisor if Corey wins.

  • mike gorge says:

    ZB,

What evidence do you have that Stewart ever sought or accepted the Log Cabin endorsement? Again, Liberals like you turn on your own in order to smear Stewart without any evidence.
