Simpson Supporter Ken Reid aka “Black/Delgaudio Fan” Files To Run As Republican Candidate

By Loudoun Insider

Ken Reid just announced yesterday that he is filing to run against Kelly Burk for Leesburg Supervisor.  He is the worst possible choice to do so, and will absolutely lose, ensuring a return of Edgar Hatrick’s employee to the BOS.  Surely the LCRC can find someone more likable who has a better chance of winning in strongly Democratic Leesburg.  Ken Reid is not that candidate.

Ken Reid got in a lot of hot water with the NovaTownHall crew in 2007 for his blogging under assumed names in defense of Steve Simpson and strongly against LCRC nominee Greg Ahlemann (see here for just one example).  You would think that maybe he would have learned his lesson.  Naaaah.

I’ve been battling with a character named Black/Delgaudio fan for some time here on TC, about Black and Delgaudio of course, but lately more about BDF’s love for Steve Simpson.  I’ve been talking about stealth LCRC support for Simpson for some time, and some people refuse to believe it exists.  Well, it does, including by BDF.

I don’t make a habit of outing commenters, but have no qualms doing so if they step way over the line with me, or if they are public figures who are blatantly bullshitting the public under assumed names.  Ken Reid just challenged me on this issue at NVTH, and this is my response.

BDF has commented as a number of entities from several IP addresses, all with the same gravatar.  One of those IPs has a number of comments from Ken Reid posting as himself, along with Black/Delgaudio Fan, Rabble Rouser, Leesburg Joe and others.  I am putting some of his choice BDF pro-Simpson comments below the fold.  I guess this could be someone else using Ken Reid’s computer, but I highly doubt it, especially given his history at NVTH last time.  So, LCRC, if you want a Steve Simpson supporter as your Leesburg candidate, pick Ken Reid.  Otherwise, find someone else who actually has a chance of beating Kelly Burk.

UPDATE:  I guess it shouldn’t be too surprising that Ken Reid would support party jumper Steve Simpson, and have party jumper Jack Ryan jump to his defense in comments – Ken Reid jumped the party in the last election.  Here’s one mention of it in the press, and here’s a link to his Loudoun Electoral Board folder when he filed to run as an Independent against Republican Jim Clem.  Party jumping is all the rage in the LCRC, isn’t it?

Mark Davis is a Leesburg cop and lives in Hoity Toity Middleburg. I keep telling all you RINOs here — Steve Simpson is the real deal!

Another swipe at a fine sherriff and fine American named Steve Simpson. He’s the real conservative in this race He’s the real deal, but you always gotta slap him, don’t you — LIar!

All these posers need to back out and let Steve Simpson run the department and let him win!

I say simpson — IN! Go Steve!

Here we go again. LI and all you RINOS are trying to destroy a good civil servant like Steve Simpson, just because Dale Polen Meyers, another fine citizen, is behind him and VRTA. It was a mistake for crying out loud! A Mistake!

And here I was thinking people hated me on the blogs….

I wrote this last night and was debating about whether or not to launch it. This is the BDF comment that really set me off:

I think LIar is being paid by the PEC and the Dems to disparage Republican candidates, spread rumors about them and dig up dirt on them. He bashes Mark Sell, Suzanne Volpe, Ken Reed in hopes the Dems will use the information against them. Tell me LIar — are you paid by the PEC and your western Loudoun country set to bash Republicans????

The answer to that question is an absolute NO. No one has ever paid me to do anything related to politics in Loudoun County or elsewhere. That’s complete bullshit, and if I am doing so, then it would be a crime since no money will be shown on anyone’s campaign finance reports coming to me.

Ken Reid (posting as himself) decided to call me to the carpet for my assertion that he supports Steve Simpson, and this is the information that backs up my assertion. Again, it is possible that someone else is using his computer to do this, but I doubt it.

  • Jack Ryan says:

LI says…”I don’t make a habit of outing commenters, but….” But I do it everytime when I disagree with them. Even calling their employers at times….big yawn on this post. Ken Reid will make a great Supervisor for Leesburg, I wish him well in his run for public office.

  • BlackOut says:

LMAO! And here I thought he was a runny nosed brat from Patrick Henry.

I like how he mispelled his own name. Such deception.

  • Jack Ryan says:

LI…are you supporting Kelly Burk for Supervisor again?

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Quit whining about that, Jack. I didn’t call anyone, I sent an email to the accounts adminstrator when a certain commenter ignored my warnings. And I am not supporting Kelly Burk, as pretty clearly stated in the post – I do not want an Edgar Hatrick employee on the BOS, and Kelly Burk is one. Ken Reid is not the candidate that can beat Kelly Burk in Democratic Leesburg District. Of course a fellow party jumper like Ken Reid (who filed to run Independent against Jim Clem in 2007) who also supports fellow party jumper Steve Simpson would be OK with you!

  • Eric the 1/2 Troll says:

Jack Ryan comes to the defense of a potential R candidate who has no R loyalty? Who is surprised here?

  • Loudoun Insider says:

I just updated the post on Reid’s aborted 2007 Independent run. Party jumping is just fine as long as you’re connected to the right people.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

I just deleted a comment stuck in moderation attacking me and my business personally. I’m not surprised they would go there, but I won’t allow it here. No one pays me for politics. Period. And if I were a PEC stooge, I would never have written the many things I have written about their ex-employee Andrea McGimsey. I am also not a candidate for office, Ken Reid is. As I just opined over at NVTH, this should be great for Ken Reid – his constant praising of Dick Black and Eugene Delgaudio can only help him in the LCRC.

  • BlackOut says:

It could only help him in the LCRC. It won’t help him out amongst the majority of voters.

  • BlackOut says:

If Reid had any guts he’d have Black give his introductory speech at his kick-off.

  • Debbie Rose says:

My two cents: LI is right that there are LCRC members who support Simpson. I have heard it myself.

  • Ref says:

Haha! That guy is BDF? I also attributed his puerile commentary to either a PHC student or a precocious high schooler with an anger problem and a well-connected LCRC father. He even has his sockpuppets trolling in the LTM comments section. What a lightweight.

    This campaign is DOA.

  • Intriguing says:

Jack Ryan – When can we meet so that you can explain why you endorsed the person who beat you at the convention and then went and ran as an independent (where you lost…..again). I really would like to understand the associated psychology of why someone would do this. Was it ego? Did someone talk you into this course of action? Seriously, let’s get the cards on the table.

  • LloydTheIdiot says:

Reid’s adamant “prove it” post on NVTH blows up in his face!

  • Loudoun Insider says:

As I just said over at NVTH, if Ken Reid can prove me wrong I’ll edit this post as appropriate. I’m sure he’;s scrambling to figure out how to respond right now. All I can say is, screw anyone that consistently calls me a liar.

  • Jack Ryan says:

stop by and see me at the next LCRC meeting…I have no idea who you are since you hide behind a moniker — LI can you expose who Intrigue is for us?

  • edmundburkenator says:

I have a solution Jack, why don’t you just type up your response here? I would like to know it too.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Jack, why the secrecy? Just put it out here so we can all benefit from your explanation as to why you ran, lost, pledged to support the winner, then turned around and ran as an attempted spoiler “Independent” days later, losing yet again.

  • Intriguing says:

Jack, when is the next LCRC meeting? I looked online, but it seems that the next meeting is TBD. If you can let me know, I can probably meet you at the conclusion. Alternatively, if you would like to talk over a cup of coffee or a soft drink, that would be fine with me as well.

My questions are straightforward – there’s about 17 of them in total – and directly pertain to your mind-set and decision-making process throughout the 2007 campaign cycle.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Intriguing, please don’t deprive the rest of us of hearing this explanation! This must be a publicly accesibale explanation for it to have any worth. And trust me, from personal experience, do not talk to Jack Ryan without a witness lest he and his cohorts try to make up things about what you said to them.

  • Hillsboro says:

However LI tries to justify it, it’s incredibly hypocritical to out an anonymous commenter while expecting anonymity for yourself. If he’s violating site rules, then ban him.

With all that said, does anyone have BDF’s original gravitar with Delgaudio tonguing Black’s ear? That was a classic!

  • Loudoun Insider says:

As I explained above, Hillsboro, I draw the line when such a commenter is a public official and he accuses me of lying and being paid to blog. He was also a frequent abuser of my one person/one IP per screen name rule. He wasn’t anonymous, he was psuedonymous, under several names. I am pseudonymous as well and will keep it that way here at TC, whether anyone likes it or not.

  • Localgop, people do hate you on the blogs. Anyways, LI, keep it up.

  • Loudoun Outsider says:

If this is true, Ken is one warped mofo. Jail Pollutin Myers is a “good citizen?” Altering the spelling of his own name to disguise his writings. Of course maybe he was home skewled and don’t spil soo gowd? A Republican elected offical attacking Republican candidates for sheriff. Perhaps the clowncilman has been smoking the synthenic marajuana you could get at BiLo across from the Leesburg police station?

If this is true, Ken needs to fold his campaign and resign.

  • LloydTheIdiot says:

LO, I can attest to the use of multiple pseudonyms by BDF et al. from a single IP.

  • Linda B says:

LI, did you mean to say you are pseudonymous? I’m confused. But then, I’m often confused.

  • Debbie R, I have the same impression.

  • Lady M says:

If Ken Reid is serious about running, he needs to stop with the blogging, commenting in the papers under different names – all of it. Honestly, LI,I know this is a big reveal for you but there are circle’s of people in Leesburg who recognized a lot of what he was doing awhile ago. For the most part, he just looked foolish. I’ve been to party’s where people were discussing the latest Rabble Rouser or Joe Leesburg comment. And laughing at him or furious at him. Ken is more than capable of making good local government decisions. But he is not a good strategist, commentator, or blogger. In fact, he’s really bad at it. I think he’s been told that but didn’t take it to heart. That side of him needs to be tucked away for good. And he needs to stick to it this time. If he can’t, he shouldn’t run.

  • The Shadow (redux) says:

LI – Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I remember 2007 and to call it a FUBAR is an understatement. Ryan’s entrance as a 3rd candidate nearly cost Waters her seat and damaged the credibility of long time LCRC members.

It was these type of shenanigans, which caused me to no longer attend LCRC meetings.

  • Loudoun Insider says:

Lady M, I’ve known it for some time and kept it to myself. He went over the line with me and had to be called to the carpet. These are just a couple of the reasons why he is not suitable as a serious supervisor candidate. The LCRC needs to do better if they want to beat Kelly Burk.

Shadow, he didn’t nearly cost Waters her seat in the end. He lost. Twice in the same year. It really was a pathetic showing.

  • LloydTheIdiot says:

I’ll also compliment LI on his restraint in outing Reid. We both knew he was BDF for some time given the IP address. When Reid challenged LI to prove Reid’s support of Simpson, however, there wasn’t much else LI could do but provide the proof Reid had requested.

  • BlackOut says:

Hey I got an idea. Maybe Reed and Black can run as the dynamic duo. They could…ah no wait that is already being done by another couple.

  • Frylock says:

If you do not want a county employee on the BOS, LI, then I’m sure many other people feel the same way. I don’t think Loudoun citizens are looking for someone who supports a gazillion dollar school budget that would give herself a hefty raise in the process.

Kelly Burk was part of a package deal in opposition to the greedy developers and rode on Scott York’s coattails into office. She certainly will not be able to count on that free ride again.

  • localgop says:

Being as you measure influence and success by the number of people that hate you, I’ll take that as a compliment.

  • Tom Dunn says:

I must say that I have never posted to this site before. I am not even sure I have ever taken my time to even visit this site. I find that these type of activities are not a very good use of time. And they tend to give people a feeling of greater importance past the borders of their small world. But in the big picture this is just small talk that effects only a very small circle of people who take any of this to heart.

I will just say, having not read any of the posts in question, this is not a big issue and has been done before by others. Pen names are used for many reasons. There may even be those who author or post on this site who use pen names. And for those who oppose that concept should consider Ben Franklin’s use of Silence Dogood or “Publius” as the author of the Federalist Papers.

I am however most surprised that this site which I know little or nothing about would drop a dime on any poster no matter who they are. I am unware of the integrity of this site prior to is point. But I for one would never consider another post where the owner of the site will disclose to the public anyones idenity which they had wished to remain private. It also shows the owners take active steps to uncover the idenities of those who post.

So say what you like about my post or myself. I will not be back to this site to see what you have read. Frankly, I regret taking this much time out of my busy day on this matter. I will leave you with this additional list of pen authors.
